RISE
Rocketry Innovations and Space Engineering (RISE) is the first rocketry and space engineering orientated student team in the world, focusing its vision on contributing towards safe and sustainable earth observation and space exploration. RISE’s mission is to ultimately engage STEM students in the challenges brought about by creating a more sustainable future in space.
RISE is a student team of the University of Twente and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. We work on problems in the space sector that needs changing to sustain human activity in space. The RISE student team focuses on innovating in sustainable space engineering solutions. The team works on landing the first bio-fueled rocket in the world.
The goal of RISE is to develop a rocket with propulsive landing capabilities, making it reusable for multiple flights with minimal refurbishment required. The rocket will include a hybrid engine as its propulsion system that can develop a stable output. This focus gives room for alternative fuels such as bio-fuel, which are not at the performance level of their non-bio counterparts yet,but may prove sufficient for this project.
