When cyclists go on long biking trips they need energy for their electrical devices such as their phones, navigation tools, headphones or smart watches. A normal power bank may not always be enough as it relies on charging by power sockets which may not always be available. Portable solar panels rely on the sun shining to charge devices. This is also not always the case. SpinCharge makes use of the mechanical energy produced while cycling and store it in a power bank. This way cyclist on long trips have constant power. Even when they rest they can use the energy they produced during the day. Furthermore SpinCharge also brings value to commuters going to work or university by bicycle. The time during commute does not get wasted and the mechanical energy produced during the commute gets utilized to charge any electrical device needed. SpinCharge promotes eco-friendly commute making cycling even more sustainable.
Our innovative idea is a power bank that clips onto a bicycle frame and charges through the rotation of the wheel. SpinCharge transforms movement into usable energy. This idea is new and unique as traditional power banks require to be charged through a power socket which is not always available, contradicting the very purpose of a power bank - true mobility. Our power bank empowers users to generate their own power while they are on the go. SpinCharge is designed for convenience and can be clipped on or off the bicycle as users like. It can be stored and taken anywhere where power is needed. Our idea meets the needs of today’s world as it is sustainable and maximizes commuting time. We ensure fully charged devices when users arrive at their destination.
