The Connection Project

Problem

We are facing a relational crisis. Many people struggle to build healthy relationships, whether with partners, friends, colleagues, or even themselves. Communication is often shaped by assumptions, power dynamics, and unspoken expectations, while topics like emotional needs, boundaries, and care remain taboo or misunderstood. This lack of relational education, especially among young people, leads to confusion, emotional harm, and disconnect. At its most harmful, this dysfunction manifests in transgressive behavior and sexual violence, which is not just an individual act but a symptom of deeper societal inequalities. It reflects a culture that values control over care, taking over listening, and dominance over mutual respect. Most of us are never taught how to relate. We learn through media, silence, and social pressure. Without safe spaces to reflect, learn, and express ourselves, many navigate relationships in fear, confusion, or disconnection. Yet these problems, while deeply embedded in systems, also play out in the everyday. They appear in how we speak to each other, how we listen (or don’t) how we handle discomfort, and how we respond to rejection. And because they exist in the small, they can also be changed in the small. Every act of kindness, honesty, and respect contributes to a larger cultural shift. When people begin to connect from a place of curiosity instead of fear, of mutual care instead of control, the force of good becomes much more powerful than the forces that divide us. This is especially urgent in a time when polarisation, exploitation, and the stripping away of rights are becoming normalised across the world. We believe that by making the problem personal and the solution relational, we can empower individuals to transform the culture around them, starting with how they relate, connect, and care.

Solution

The Connection Project provides education, tools, and safe spaces to help people build healthier relationships, starting with emotional intelligence, consent, and boundaries. Through interactive workshops, pop-up events, and storytelling, we create experiences that move beyond fear-based or legalistic models of consent. Instead, we frame consent as a tool for deeper connection, mutual respect, and emotional safety. What began as a project focused on preventing sexual violence has evolved into a wider mission: to empower individuals and communities to relate more consciously and caringly, in romantic, professional, and personal spheres. We focus on early education and prevention, working with university students and young adults, equipping them with the language and confidence to navigate complex relational dynamics with empathy and clarity.

Mission

We are transforming the way people relate by making consent and boundaries tools for connection – not just protection.
